Registration for KINDERGARTEN 2019-2020 will take place on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 for all Portage la Prairie school division schools, including Oakville School. Children must be five years of age by December 31, 2019.



Play ADAMA’s Thank a Retailer for the New Hall/Daycare Fund

By playing ADAMA’s game once a week, you contribute points to the pool for Shur-Gro Farm Services (Oakville). The game runs until February 13, 2019 and the retailer with the highest point pool will win $15,000 for their community. Players can collect bonus points by referring friends (100 points each for you and your friend), playing the weekly games (bonus points for playing the week they’re released), and by entering promo codes (keep your eyes out for promo codes shared on the What’s Up, Oakville Facebook page).


Congratulations to the Community Club and Skating Club!

The Oakville Community Club and Skating Club were awarded an $18,000 grant from the Hextall Fund, making them by far the largest recipient in the RM for 2018. This money will be put towards the arena’s new light upgrades.

From the Hextall Fund committee: “The Hextall Fund was established in honour of Hockey Hall of Famer, Brian Hextall and created for the purpose of providing funding to community organizations that promote and sponsor youth oriented sports and recreational programs. A portion of the RM’s share to the Portage Regional Recreation Authority is allocated to the Hextall Recreation Fund each year.”

The conditions of application are:

    • Promotions and sponsorship of youth oriented sports and recreational programs, i.e. minor hockey, figure skating, curling, baseball, soccer, sports fields, etc.
    • Operation of facilities, halls, rinks, etc., which provide accommodation for youth oriented programs
    • Other recreational programs that may be deemed youth oriented
